Alton Towers is today back in the news for all the wrong reasons once again after a crash on the Sonic Spinball ride left 4 people needing medical attention. The incident occurred when two carriages on the tracks collided for an unknown reason.

2 men and 1 woman in their 30s along with a woman in her 20s were examined by medics following the crash. Witness Danny Robinson relayed his view of the accident saying "The carriage came round to the end at full pace and crashed into one with a young family inside. The mum in the other carriage was screaming. They spent about 20 minutes getting them out of the carriage."

A spokesperson for Alton Towers said "The guests on the two cars walked off and we advised that they attend our medical centre as a precautionary measure." The spokesperson then added "The ride reopened shortly afterwards."

Earlier in the week, a number of patrons were left stranded on the monorail on one of the hottest days of the year. 80 people were left sweating it out in temperatures of almost 28 degrees celsius while staff worked heard to rectify a technical fault.

Just last month, a devastating crash on the park's Smiler ride saw a number of customers badly hurt. Five patrons were left with very serious injuries with Vicky Balch and Leah Washington suffering worst with both having to have legs amputated.
