Brentwood Station: Person Hit by Train
A man was struck by a train at Brentwood station shortly after 7.30am today and was pronounced dead at the scene later in the morning. The train tracks were closed immediately and emergency services rushed to attend the scene of the accident.
The incident caused severe delays to the rail network with trains for London most affected today as emergency services worked hard to clear the line at Brentwood station. Many passengers faced into a long wait for normal service to be resumed.
Greater Anglia appealed to commuters earlier this morning to avoid using services between Liverpool Street and Gidea Park saying “Customers are asked NOT to travel unless your journey is absolutely necessary. Very limited service running Gidea P-London”.
Lines have been slowly reopening but passengers can expect to experience delays throughout the day as services get back to normal. Train tickets are being honoured on Underground and bus routes in a bid to to help commuters get to their destinations in the quickest manner possible.
