Pointless laws in the UK

Let’s face it, a lot of the laws we live under are pretty pointless. In this country, some laws remain in place that aren’t relevant anymore and there are other laws that were never any good to begin with. We’ll list you the most brainless of the laws you currently live under.

Did you realise that it’s illegal to die in the House of Commons? No, neither did we. That law doesn’t apply to the majority of us but it’s so silly we thought we’d start with it.

It’s not illegal to send a letter without a postage stamp but it is if you put the stamp upside down. We’re not sure what the punishment is for putting the Queen’s head upside down on your letter but we’ve been told that it’s classed as an act of treason.

Those guys at the Houses of Parliament are again subject to a silly law. This one’s just horribly outdated. It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armour.

Did you realise that eating mince pies on Christmas day is illegal? That’s wonderfully silly. What would happen if Sainsbury’s were open on Christmas day? Would the police be obliged to raid their premises for mince pies like Elliot Ness and the Untouchables during prohibition?
