The Year of the Sheep ended on January 27th but today marks the official beginning of the new Chinese New Year. Within the Chinese calendar there is a 12-year cycle that rotates between various animals. 2016 is the start of the 9th animal, the monkey and will come to an end on January 27, 2017.

For those that were born in the Year of the Monkey, 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1980, 1992 or 2004, this actually is said to be one of the most unlucky years in the calendar. Keep a close eye on your health as you might be more susceptible to traffic accidents and avoid taking any unnecessary risks unless they are well calculated. On the other hand, this is said to be a great year for those under the sign of the rabbit, snake, ox, rooster and rat.

Those who are born in the Year of the Monkey are said to be lively, innovative and quick-witted. They are also sociable and self-assured, and are problem solvers. This may lead to a year that is full of clever innovation and much growth. Each animal is also associated with an element of gold, water, wood, fire, or earth. This year is the year of the fire which is compatible with women. It is the year that women can be empowered and may see promotions in their career.

But everyone and every animal has flaws as well. Some of their shortcomings may be arrogance, jealousy, mischievousness and a rather bad temper. In regards to love, avoid those that have the tiger or pig zodiac sign and search for those with ox or rabbit signs as they will be more compatible with you.
